Itoigawa Geopark is managed by the Itoigawa Geopark Council, a voluntary association of tourist & guide organizations, educational institutes, community groups and government offices.
We work together in the fields of education & research, conservation & protection and community development & tourism in order to not only maintain, but continuously improve the high standards recognized in our territory when we were certified as a UNESCO Global Geopark.
Geopark Strategic Project
Itoigawa UNESCO Global Geopark is managed in accordance with a 5 year action plan. The 3rd Geopark Strategic Project is effective for the years 2021 - 2026. This plan, which forms the basis for our activities as a Geopark, is adjusted each year to adapt to changing social and economic conditions.
