Due to slope collapse caused by rainfall on September 21st and 22nd, part of the Hashidate-Agero Forest Road is currently under a complete road closure until further notice.

If you plan on visiting the Ōmigawa Jade Gorge or Ōhira Pass, please check the accessible sections and traffic regulation status below.

  • Between Ōmi District and Ōmigawa Jade Gorge 【OPEN】
    Access from the Ōmi District to the Ōmigawa Jade Gorge is open as usual. (Access to the Jade Gorge is possible)
  • From Ōmigawa Jade Gorge toward Ōhira Pass 【CLOSED】
    The road beyond the Jade Gorge toward Ōhira Pass is closed to all traffic.
  • Between Agero District and Ōhira Pass 【OPEN】
    Access from the Agero District to Ōhira Pass is open as usual.
    (Access to Ōhira Pass is possible)
  • From Ōhira Pass toward Ōmigawa Jade Gorge 【CLOSED】
    The road beyond Ōhira Pass toward Ōmigawa Jade Gorge is closed to all traffic.
  • Between Ōhira Pass and Tonami District 【OPEN】
    The route heading down from Ōhira Pass to Tonami District via the Ōhira Forest Road is open as usual.

Closed section is closed to all traffic, including pedestrians

Please note that due to the extent of the damage, extensive slope stabilization works will be required in addition to debris removal. Consequently, this closure may continue for an extended period, extending into FY2027 and beyond.
