【Apr 18】New MOU Signed with Pocheon City (Republic of Korea)
On April 18, 2025, the City of Itoigawa (Itoigawa UNESCO Global Geopark) and the City of Pocheon in the Republic of Korea (Hantangang UNESCO Global Geopark) signed a Memorandum of Understanding in order to increase cooperation and collaboration for the promotion of international exchange and student education for the purpose of mutual development.
This agreement aims to strengthen Geopark activities and foster the sustainable development of both communities through the establishment of an international cooperative relationship.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Yoneda Toru, Mayor of Itoigawa and Chair of the Itoigawa Geopark Council, along with Mr. Kye Young-jin, Specialist from Pocheon City, who visited Japan as the representative of Pocheon Mayor Baek Young-hyun. Mr. Kye remarked, “This is the first time Pocheon City has entered into a Global Geopark partnership agreement. We hope to use this opportunity to expand a wide range of activities through the Geopark.”
Itoigawa Geopark remains committed to promoting international exchange in the fields of education, culture, and regional development through ongoing collaboration with Geoparks both in Japan and around the world.

【Feb 5】New Partnership Agreement Signed with Araiguma Co, Ltd.
On Feb 5, we officially signed a partnership agreement with Araiguma Co., Ltd. to promote Geopark activities! The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Hironori Nagae, Executive Director of Yamatoya Co., Ltd., a group company of Araiguma. We discussed and confirmed our collaboration on protecting and preserving local resources as well as utilizing the Geopark for regional development.
